         NON-VIOLENT and CONFLICT RECONCILIATION TRAINING

                               "Kingian Nonviolence"

The King Center, since its inception in 1968, has continued to look at methods of conveying the message of the work and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Beginning in the early 1980s, with a grant from LEAA, the Center conducted workshops across the nation to community group.  This was the first real attempt to codify the training of Kingian Nonviolence.  In 1984, the Center provided a three year training event for the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  This was the first time that the Training-of-Trainers concept was utilized.  Participants were given both a Trainers Manual and a Participants Manual.  Over the years the Center has continued to improve on these documents and its capacity to convey the true essence of Dr. King’s work.

Since 1990, the methods and techniques have been utilized to train over 500,00 participants around the world
